Day 4 We will venture up Mt Wellington this morning before
embarking on a uniquely Tasmanian tour. Tasmanian Wild Seafood
Adventures takes us on a gastronomic maritime adventure combining
the beauty of Tasmania's landscapes with the culinary delight of the
freshest of Tasmanian seafood on the River Derwent. The crew are
local fishermen and divers, experts in their craft, and they'll bring
aboard the freshest catches straight from the surrounding waters.
Expert chefs prepare Tasmanian treasures before your eyes such as rock
lobster, oysters, blacklip abalone, mussels, urchin, Atlantic salmon
and periwinkles. The tastes and flavours reflect the pure, untouched
waters of Tasmania. After a day of degustation, a relaxed evening with
dinner at own expense. We suggest a short walk to lively constitution
dock, where restaurants, bars and the stationary fish punts all
congregate.
Day 1 Scott and the airport shuttles will transfer you to Sydney
Airport for your flight to Hobart where our coach will be waiting
to take you to the four-star Old Woolstore Hotel for a 5 night
stay.
Day 2 A foodie tour of Southern Tasmania would not be
complete without a day out to the famous Coal Valley wine
region. A stop along the way at the charming, historic Georgian
village of Richmond. We’ll visit the stunning Pooley Wine
Estate, moving on to a fantastic lunch at the innovative
Frogmore Creek Winery whose senior wine maker Alain
Rousseau uses experimental techniques to produce a range of
complex, unconventional and intriguing wines. We finish the day
with a trip to Coal Valley Vineyard where the wines are made
from 100% single site estate grown fruit.
Day 3 On Saturdays, Salamanca Place comes alive with the
famous Salamanca Markets. Over 300 stallholders sell fresh and
gourmet produce, arts, crafts and handiworks from all over
Tasmania. After the markets, we journey down the Huon Valley.
With 80% of the island’s apple production, the Huon Valley gives
Tasmania it affectionate nickname “The Apple Isle”. In recent
years the area has well and truly broadened its palate with a
preponderance of gourmet food and drink. Combined with
stunning scenery this is a fantastic way to spend the afternoon and
we will meet some of the special producer growers of the area and
taste the valley. We see Hobart by night this evening and dine at
one of Hobart’s many stand out restaurants.
Day 5 Today we visit Tasmania’s Central Highlands and the global
award winning Curringa Farm. We spend the morning with Tim and
Jane Parsons, 6th generation Tasmanian farmers and winners of the
World Agritourism Awards 2023 & 2024 whose passion for their
working 750 acre sheep and cropping farm is evident in everything they
do. We’ll learn about their sheep and wool production, see their
working dogs in action along with in depth conversations about crops
and landcare including their unique opium poppies and seed crops of
onions. After a BBQ lunch on the farm we’ll meander our way home
with stops along the way. Our final evening, we dine out at Hobarts
iconic historical and art restaurant, Landscape, Surrounded by the
inspirational artworks of John Glover.
Day 6 We fly back to Sydney where the airport shuttles are waiting to
take you home.
